The documentation centre in the Swiss Museum of Transport consists of a special collection of historical documents, a reference library and subject dossiers. It gathers, conserves and opens up these documents, making their history tangible in the process.

The various subject groups in the rail transport, aviation and space travel, road transport, navigation and tourism areas currently comprise some 150,000 documents.

The contents deal primarily with the topic of transport and mobility in Switzerland and its surrounding area. The archive and library document the transport operators, their technical development, manufacturers as well as operators and their direct impact on the environment. In the future, the Swiss Museum of Transport also plans to establish a network with other institutions that cover the socio-cultural environment of mobility.
