Aviation & Space Travel
Cleared for take-off!
Mankind has always dreamt of being able to fly like a bird. In this hall, more than 30 historic aircraft and flying machines, together with over 300 original artefacts, models, dioramas, experiments and simulators will take you to spectacular new heights.
On 31 March 2010 the Swiss Museum of Transport and partners jointly opened the completely refurbished Aviation and Space Travel Hall, complete with appealing new exhibits. The event also saw the opening of the special exhibition, "100 Years of Aviation in Switzerland", set to run until 24 October 2010 in commemoration of this centenary year in Swiss aviation history.
Switzerland's aviation history began 100 years ago: 1910 saw more historically significant events take place in the sphere of aviation than any other year. Reason enough in 2010, then, to honour the efforts and accomplishments of the pioneers, to look back on a lively past, review the present, and cast a forward look at the future of Swiss aviation.
