An icon in the history of mobility

A submarine designed in 1963 by Auguste Piccard and built by his son Jacques, Mésoscaphe starred at the Swiss National Exhibition in Lausanne in 1964. After one thousand-plus dives in Lake Geneva, the vessel was used for various research missions in the world's oceans before finally finding its way to the Swiss Museum of Transport. Following its extensive restoration, we offer free tours of the interior of the world's first and largest tourism-oriented submarine.
