The museum dedicated to Switzerland's most popular artist (1909-2015) is situated in the grounds of the Swiss Museum of Transport in Lucerne. Art and mobility make for an unusual combination, but the link is clear: they both involve communication and encounters.
Since 1979, the hexagonal building has been a focal point in the Swiss Museum of Transport complex. Some 300 works spanning seven decades document the thematic and technical facets of the ever restless and energetic artist Hans Erni. They provide an overview of his unique work and life that is dedicated to examining contemporary, cultural, technical and ecological topics. As well as having a painting corner for creative little fingers, the museum and its auditorium are also a popular venue for discussions. The impressive murals ensure a unique atmosphere.
