Accessibility for all

The museum, Planetarium, Filmtheatre and Swiss Chocolate Adventure are wheelchair accessible. The Swiss Museum of Transport has two wheelchairs available on a loan basis (if available). We recommend booking wheelchair admissions for the Swiss Chocolate Adventure, Planetarium and Filmtheatre by telephone the day before.

The museum and Swiss Chocolate Adventure are also suitable for visitors with visual or hearing impairments.

Four disabled parking bays are available in front of the main entrance.

The Swiss Museum of Transport has two disabled toilets with handholds.

Age recommendation

The minimum recommended age for the daily programmes at the Filmtheatre and Planetarium is 6. The museum and Swiss Chocolate Adventure are suitable for a younger age group. The age limit for VR simulations is 12 years, based on expert recommendations.

Boat

The Swiss Museum of Transport is also accessible by boat (landing stage: "Verkehrshaus-Lido"). Visit lakelucerne.ch for timetables.

Charge points

Three electric vehicle rapid charge points are provided by the entrance of the museum at Lidostrasse 5. The maximum parking time for charging is 90 minutes. The latest information on using the charging bays may be found here.

Dogs

Animals are not permitted in the Museum of Transport. This also applies to dogs that are transported in carrier bags. Companion or assistance dogs that are labelled may be taken into the museum.

Languages

The addresses in the museum are in German, French, English and Italian. Daily films in the film theatre and planetarium shows are available in German with simultaneous translation into French, Italian and English. Other languages are available on request. The Swiss Chocolate Adventure is available in German (incl. German for the hearing impaired), French, Italian, English, Spanish, Korean, Chinese and Brazilian Portuguese. Subject to change without notice. There is also a map of the museum with QR codes and integrated audio files in Chinese.

Lockers are available in the entrance area (deposit: CHF 2).

Luggage

Lockers (deposit CHF 2) are available for visitors' bags.

Means of payment

The Swiss Museum of Transport ticket desk accepts Swiss francs CHF and euros (no coins) EUR. Change is given in Swiss francs. The following means of payment are accepted: MasterCard, VISA, American Express, EC, Maestro, myOne, Postcard, Reka-Cheques (no change given) and TWINT.

Parking

Public parking spaces are available in the vicinity of the museum. Please observe the parking signs. Four disabled parking bays and an electric vehicle charging bay are provided in front of the main entrance.

Photos/videos

Filming and photography is permitted in all areas accessible to visitors (exception: Filmtheatre and Planetarium). The images/videos may be used for private purposes. For commercial filming or photography, please contact the Press Office.

Restaurants

Located in the Swiss Museum of Transport are the Piccard waiter-service restaurant, Mercato self-service restaurant and Filmtheatre Lounge. Access is possible without an admission ticket.

Souvenir Coins

The coin-operated machine for the souvenir coins is located on the first floor of the Navigation and Tourism Hall and can only be accessed with a valid museum ticket.

Wi-Fi

Free wireless internet access is available throughout the museum premises: simply look for the network called "Verkehrshaus".
