Who was Hans Erni?
Hans Erni was a versatile Swiss artist who worked in the fields of painting, graphic art, sculpture and design. Born in Lucerne in 1909, he had a decisive influence on modern Swiss art for many decades. Known for his dynamic compositions and innovative graphic designs, he also dealt intensively with social and political issues. His works - from impressive posters to large-format paintings - are internationally recognized and continue to inspire generations of artists.

Hans Erni Foundation
The Hans Erni Foundation was established on December 23, 1976 on the occasion of the artist's 70th birthday. It was instrumental in financing and opening the museum in 1979. Today, the collection comprises more than 300 paintings, drawings, graphics, sculptures and ceramics. In addition to organizing exhibitions, the foundation also promotes and organizes lectures and cultural events.
