As an extracurricular place of learning, the Swiss Museum of Transport in Lucerne gives young visitors the chance to expand their knowledge through first-hand experiences. The range of topics is very broad, ranging from traditional mobility topics to media skills and career choices. We provide teachers with professionally prepared materials and worksheets relating to the Lehrplan 21 curriculum project in Switzerland.
Buying Class Tickets - Two Options
- 1. via the "Plan school trip" tool
Register your class using the "Plan school trip" tool. On the day of the visit, you will receive your tickets and invoice at the ticket office.
2. Without pre-registration
Purchase your tickets for your class directly at the ticket office on site and pay for them in cash or by card.

2. Put together a programme
Would you like to visit just the museum or also the Planetarium or the Filmtheatre? Put together your programme according to your wishes. You can also book guided tours and workshops directly here.
3. Send selection
Send us your selection and we will check availability and confirm your tailor-made programme.
Prices for Schools
School rates apply to school classes with at least 5 pupils who are accompanied by a teacher.
The rates distinguishes between two levels:
Compulsory schooling: Comprises the eleven years of compulsory schooling (kindergarten to secondary level I)
Post-compulsory schooling: Secondary level II and tertiary level

Public schools in the canton of Lucerne visit the museum free of charge as part of their compulsory education.
Free entry for elementary schools in the city of Lucerne
Public schools in the city of Lucerne (from kindergarten to SEK) and childcare services offered by the city's schools: free admission to the museum and to public screenings at the Filmtheatre, Planetarium and Swiss Chocolate Adventure.

Frequently Asked Questions
Registration for school trips
It is not usually necessary to register to visit the museum. Tickets can be purchased directly at the ticket office (cash or card). Register your class in advance using the "Plan school trip" tool and you will receive an invoice at the ticket office on the day of the visit when you purchase your tickets.
Picnic areas
Eating and drinking is prohibited in the exhibition halls. There are designated picnic areas outside where you can take a break in a relaxed atmosphere. There is also an old restaurant rail carriage where you can stay dry and enjoy your food when the weather is bad. This can NOT be reserved.
