The Sun

The sun has been shining on our world for four and a half billion years. It is our nearest star and the powerhouse of our planet. The passage of the fiery disc has been the only way for countless past civilisations to track time. Don't let the terminology fool you; although it is a typical dwarf star, the Sun consumes 600 million tonnes of hydrogen per second and has 500 times the mass of all the planets combined.
