Accessibility
The Filmtheatre is accessible. It offers 4 fixed wheelchair spaces. Additional wheelchair spaces are available on request.
Duration of the visit
A show in the daytime programme usually lasts 45 minutes. Lectures, events and evening films may last longer. Please refer to the programme for the exact duration.
Filmtheatre entry prices
Entry to the Filmtheatre costs:
- Adults: CHF 18
- Students (under 26): CHF 14
- Children (under 16): CHF 10
- Infants (under 6): CHF 10
Entry to the Planetarium is not included in museum admission.
A day pass entitles you to enter the museum and to visit the Filmtheatre, the Planetarium and the Swiss Chocolate Adventure at any time. A day pass costs:
- Adults: CHF 62
- Students/learners under 26: CHF 46
- Children under 16: CHF 29
- Infants under 6 years: CHF 12

Size
The Filmtheatre has a screen 25.5 m wide and 14 m high and a projection area of 357 m². A stage with an area of 116m² and a lift with turntable enables various uses as an event location.

Children in the Filmtheatre
The Filmtheatre offers many family-friendly documentaries and family films. We recommend a visit to the Filmtheatre (daytime programme) from the age of 6. The specific age recommendations per film can be found in the relevant descriptions on this website.
Rent the Filmtheatre
The Filmtheatre can be rented for private events. The price is CHF 1750 per hour (excluding screenings), with an additional CHF 1000 for each additional hour. It is ideal for presentations, lectures and exclusive shows on astronomical topics. You can find more information about our room offer here.

The Filmtheatre is open all year round. The opening hours depend on the current programme.
Seats
The Filmtheatre offers 346 seats including 4 wheelchair spaces. Additional wheelchair spaces are available on request. The seating is ascending and thus offers the best view from all seats.
Languages
Daytime films in the Filmtheatre are available in German with simultaneous translation into French, Italian and English.
Films in the evening programme are shown either in the original language (O) with subtitles or in dubbed versions in German.
Discounted entry
Discounts are available for students and apprentices (under 26) and children (under 16). Members of the Museum of Transport and groups of 10 people or more receive a 10% discount on the entry price. There are special rates for school classes. We also offer day passes for admission to the Planetarium, the Filmtheatre and the Swiss Chocolate Adventure.
