Elefant - THE steam engine of Switzerland
The SBB C 5/6 steam engine is affectionately known as the "elephant". It is one of the most impressive exhibits in the Swiss Museum of Transport. The mighty steam engine was built in 1913 by the Swiss Locomotive and Machine Factory (SLM) in Winterthur and played a central role in transporting goods across the Alps. With its imposing size and power, it is emblematic of the engineering skills of times gone by.
