Everything you need to know about the Planetarium

Accessibility

The Planetarium is accessible. There are four permanent wheelchair-accessible spaces.

Duration of the visit

A show in the daytime programme lasts around 45 minutes. Lectures, events and evening shows can last longer. Please refer to the program for the exact duration.

Planetarium admission prices

Admission to the Planetarium for the daytime programme costs:

  • Adults: CHF 18
  • Students (under 26): CHF 14
  • Children (under 16): CHF 10
  • Infants (under 6): CHF 10

Admission to the Planetarium is not included in museum admission.

A daytime pass entitles you to enter the museum and to visit the Filmtheatre, the Planetarium and the Swiss Chocolate Adventure at any time. A day pass costs:

  • Adults: CHF 62
  • Students/learners under 26: CHF 46
  • Children under 16: CHF 29
  • Infants under 6: CHF 12

Luggage

Lockers are available next to the entrance to the planetarium. They can be used with a deposit of CHF 2 or a token, which can be purchased at the ticket desk. For groups, there are also two large lockers (approx. 1 × 1 × 1.5 m) in which several pieces of luggage can be stored.

Size

The Planetarium has a projection dome with a diameter of 18 meters and a projection area of 508 m². It is one of the most modern large-scale planetariums in the world.

Opening hours

The Planetarium is open all year round. The opening hours depend on the current programme.

Rent the Planetarium

The Planetarium can be hired for private events. The price is CHF 1750 per hour (excluding shows), with an additional CHF 1000 for each additional hour. It is ideal for presentations, lectures and exclusive shows on astronomical topics. You can find more information about our room offer here.

Seats

The Planetarium has 246 seats, including 4 wheelchair spaces. The seats are slightly inclined to allow optimum enjoyment of the 360° projections. The seats are arranged in such a way that everyone has an unrestricted view of the dome. There are 11 beanbags in the middle for reclining.

Support the Planetarium

The Planetarium welcomes donations to support our educational work. For instance, you can sponsor constellations or seats in the planetarium. You can find more information here.

 

Languages

Planetarium shows are available in German with simultaneous translation into French, Italian and English. Other languages are available on request. Live elements and shows are usually in German.

Discounted entry

Discounts are available for students and apprentices (under 26) and children (under 16). Members of the Museum of Transport and groups of 10 people or more receive a 10% discount on the entry price. There are special rates for school classes. We also offer day passes for admission to the Planetarium, the Filmtheatre and the Swiss Chocolate Adventure.
