Miró, Erni, Tàpies - World on paper
Special exhibition from 04.07. - 10.11.2024
A cooperation with the Kunstmuseum Pablo Picasso Münster and the Grosshaus Collection
The Hans Erni Museum's summer exhibition "Miró, Erni, Tàpies - World on Paper" presents the impressive graphic works of the two Catalans for the first time in a long time and juxtaposes them with the equally important works of Hans Erni from Central Switzerland. Graphic works play a major role in the oeuvre of both Joan Miró and Antoni Tàpies, as well as that of Hans Erni.
The title of the exhibition "World on Paper" has a dual meaning: on the one hand, it refers to the concrete reference to reality in the artists' work in the form of objects such as items of clothing, wooden finds or newspaper cuttings. On the other hand, it thematizes the historical relevance of their work. Mirô's and Tàpies' political commitment is a close parallel to Hans Erni's life and work.
The similarities and differences between the three artists become clear in chapters such as "Confrontation with the homeland", "Writing and letters" and "Clothing and body".
The exhibition is accompanied by a catalog and a varied program of events.
