“Rhapsody in Blue under the Stars” – a co-production with Kammermusik Luzern. The Frank Dupree Trio and Simon Höfele blend classical and jazz to create an exclusive musical experience beneath the planetarium dome, whilst you relax in a comfortable armchair. 

With infectious energy and a strong stage presence, the Frank Dupree Trio moves effortlessly between classical and jazz. Frank Dupree, pianist and soloist at the Lucerne Festival 2026, has found two kindred spirits in Jakob Krupp on bass and Obi Jenne on drums. Together, they are joined by the charismatic trumpeter Simon Höfele.

George Gershwin’s *Rhapsody in Blue* is an icon of American musical history. No sooner does the legendary opening glissando ring out – arguably one of the most famous motifs of all time – than it becomes clear that four internationally renowned concert artists are on stage here. Together, they explore those dazzling spaces where styles intersect, clash and reinvent themselves.

The programme ranges from technical brilliance to soothing tranquillity – as in Miles Davis’s *Blue in Green*, for example. Chamber Music Lucerne performs at the Planetarium – an impressive interplay of music and projection, intense, spectacular and yet surprisingly accessible.
