What is the Coronado aeroplane?
The Convair CV-990 Coronado was an American long-haul airliner of the 1960s - the fastest passenger aircraft ever built with jet engines (without afterburner). It was in service with Swissair from 1962 to 1975 and characterised an era of elegant, fast travel. Today, the Swiss Museum of Transport in Lucerne is home to one of the few surviving examples in the world - a symbol of technology, progress and pioneering spirit.
