The Rigi steamship has been one of the museum's main attractions since the Swiss Museum of Transport opened in 1959. As the oldest preserved smooth-deck side-wheel steamer in the world and the oldest steamship in Switzerland, it occupies a special place among the historical witnesses to the history of Swiss mobility. Pupils learn exciting facts about shipping on Lake Lucerne in the past, present and future.
Over the course of his artistic career, Hans Erni has tried out various styles and techniques and, in retrospect, cannot be assigned to a specific era or style. However, surrealist, cubist and abstract motifs can be recognized in Erni's works. A visit to the Hans Erni Museum is therefore an excellent way to get to know and distinguish between these three styles in more detail.
The Swiss Museum of Transport is home to a vast number of exhibits. These form a perfect basis for practicing sketching objects. Pupils recognize that close observation is central to the further development of forms. Sketching also helps them to understand the difference between the appearance and texture of object surfaces.
