Our planetarium enjoys a world-renowned reputation - so it's all the better that we now have a visitor from Copenhagen: Søren from the Copenhagen Planetarium is visiting us this week to find out about our latest developments and exchange ideas with us.
Hello Søren, please introduce yourself briefly.
I am 26 years old and come from the Planetarium in Copenhagen. I have a Master's degree in Earth and Space Physics and Technology from the Technical University of Denmark. I specialise in extragalactic observations, especially so-called extreme galaxies.
Why are you here at the planetarium in the Swiss Museum of Transport?
Basically, I'm here to learn from the best. I've heard a lot about what you do here, for example with Digistar. So I'm here to learn from Marc and see how he goes about or works with Digistar.
What was your intention in coming here? Do you have problems with the system at the Copenhagen Planetarium?
Basically, we're a bit understaffed at the moment, for example in developing things for Digistar.
So I was sent here because there was no one to teach me how to use Digistar, but also because I was told that Marc is known for his skills and expertise with Digistar and his way of working in general.
Marc Horat, what are you showing him this week?
We're going to have some cool events that are really worthwhile. But it's also worth just seeing how we use the software that we use in the planetarium. That's something that differs from planetarium to planetarium, and it's really worth visiting other planetariums to see how they end up doing it.
