Movability - The new wheelchair course

"MovAbility - barrier-free on the move". This new attraction invites visitors to immerse themselves in the perspective of people with physical disabilities and experience the importance of accessibility in public spaces at first hand.

Twelve surfaces, many challenges

The course features twelve different surfaces that simulate typical everyday situations. Whether smooth asphalt or bumpy cobblestones - each surface presents its own challenge and illustrates how differently a wheelchair can be steered depending on the surface.

Visitors can also use various means of transport with optimized or completely barrier-free access for people with limited mobility. These include a self-driving Postbus and a cut-open Zentralbahn railcar, which is accessible via a lever hoist. Insights such as these make it clear what infrastructure is required to enable barrier-free transportation.

The trail can and must raise awareness. It is crucial that visitors - especially decision-makers - experience what it means to experience what it means to be confronted with such barriers.
